THE present sketch of the life, philosophy, and influence of Hume is based on well-nigh a lifetime's familiarity with the works of that author. Orr's introduction to Hume, the person, and his philosophy, and his position among great contemporaries, is straight-forward, compact and precise making the book an ideal launching pad to further and more complex studies to the complexities of the thought and writings of this giant among modern philosophers.
