The first group of condemned men who entered the square trembled when they saw the ready gallows: "Why gallows!? They could have shot us, then we would have died more easily." There are five gallows, and on each gallows there are two ropes for the execution of two people; one of the gallows is for three people. The gallows have been erected in a very tasteless manner, as if they intended to make the executed appear insignificant. Poles three times the height of an average-sized person have been planted in the ground, two by two, at a distance of approximately two and a half to three meters from each other. The ends of the poles have two branches, in the shape of the number seven and facing each other. Inside the slots at the ends of the vertical poles, they have laid a horizontal pole, approximately the same length, and on the horizontal pole are two metal rings one meter apart, probably for passing the ropes. "If the rings had been pulleys and if the ropes had been soaped beforehand, we would have died more easily." But they didn't even bother to thread the ropes through the rings, they just passed them over a horizontal beam. The knots on the ropes don't resemble the knots on the execution rope either. "If they had been the kind of knots that easily tighten the ring of the rope, we would have died more easily. It's obvious that they wanted to delay the death of the executed and increase their torment.
