1930. In this book, Roerich sets forth his journey through Central Asia and Tibet in the terms of spirit. It is a record of legends, parables and notes that reveal the different facets of the theme of Shambhala. The author seemingly perceives what the people he encountered thought, their hopes and beliefs, the subtleties and nuances of those people and their countries. All these observations are published in this volume in the fabulously artistic style Roerich is known for, not only in his art, but also his writings.
