The post cold war period and liberalization presented the changed scenario in almost all the areas which demand more economic, political, cultural, technological and educational interaction between the sub-continent's powers. India's interests in the sub-continent are peace, development, peaceful co-existence, noninterference and security. No doubt, India is a subcontinent regional power among its small neighbors. Today the sub-continent is in a sorry state. So India is trying to move towards its regional neighbors to work for closer and greater economic, social, cultural and political cooperation.
