He was educated in Orathanadu-Thanjavur District at Board High School and after graduation B.A., (1967) at Alagappa College, Karaikudi, he went to Annamalai University, childamaram. He holds three degrees from Annamalai University M.A. (History) (1969)-Ph.D., (Modern India) and D.Litt., (Human Rights, International Law and Organizations), and M.A. Political Science from Sri Venkateswara University. He was awarded a distinguished D.Litt. Degree for his Classic thesis: "Human Rights Complaints Systems: Internatioanl and Regional which set a new standard for the study of systems.
