He was awarded UGC Teacher Fellowship and various research projects by the VGC; ICSSR; ASRC; and completed these research works successfully. Dr. Mohapatra has written a number of books in English and Oriya and published a number of research papers in different journals. He has earned reputation as a writer, editor, lyricist, orator, social worker and became a recipient of many certificates, medals and honorary titles. He is associated with various cultural, educational and spiritual organizations.
