Development has been the foremost cry of the Northeast. The Look East Policy was initiated as a development strategy to accelerate India's engagement with Southeast Asia. To this effect the Northeast of India is significantly placed at the focal point of this policy. The implementation of this policy can bring tremendous opportunities to the Northeast. This book is a collected work of deliberations and papers that were presented at the national seminar, "Look East Policy: Impact on Northeast India" organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Synod College. It reflects the thoughts and concerns that the engaged audience have expressed about the Northeast and also includes suggestions to address the region's decades old concerns. About Author : Charles Reuben Lyngdoh is Head, Department of Political Science, Synod College, Shilong. He is actively engaged in teaching, research and is also associated with numerous co-curricular activities of the College. Merostar Rani, is presently Coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cel (IQAC), Synod College. He completed his Ph.D. in Physics from the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong in 1997. He is actively engaged in organizing and coordinating the various co-curricular emphasis on seminars, workshops, quality improvement in teaching and learning and extension programmes.
