This book is an outgrowth of the authors~ long and rich experience in teaching renewable energy technologies and conducting original research in the field. Written in a simple and concise style, the book is systematically organized into seven chapters providing a balanced coverage of all important renewable energy sources-solar, biomass, wind, wave, geothermal, tidal and small hydel. A unique feature of the book is a separate chapter on environmental impact of renewable energy sources. It brings to the reader an aspect of this subject, which is exceedingly important yet so recent that no other book has caught up with it. This textbook is intended for courses in environmental sciences, environmental engineering and energy studies at the advanced graduate and postgraduate levels.
