Management is a most complex subject. It is more of an art than science. Successful managers not only require an in depth knowledge of the subject but high degree of skills and tactics to get over the complex situation gainfully. Present management literature has more of instances, successful stories and models from the West. As a result, most of the managers could not look beyond West. In the context of growing globalisation particularly with increased business opportunities in the East, there is an urgent need that western managers acquire greater degree of understanding of the eastern managerial culture. Eastern managers have reasonable measure of folk wisdom and look beyond western managerial culture. Growing business opportunities in the East have further enhanced the demand of holistic managers with greater understanding of East. While East has rich traditional folk wisdom, it is not systematically or properly documented. Folk tales, useful for managing society, people, organisations and businesses, have been told as part of management education from one generation to another but do not form an integral of management education. Leveraged with art of management, this book, 'Management through Folk Wisdom' is a collection of number of relevant folk tales containing enduring message that sharpens managerial skills to take appropriate decisions.
