Sarv, Sepid… Sorkh is a historical–fiction novel centered on Zokāʾ al-Molk Foroughi and his decisive role in September 1941, a critical moment when Iran stood on the brink of being drawn into an unwanted war. Through a deeply human and personal lens, the book explores Foroughi’s concerns, doubts, and difficult decisions in the face of the nation’s fate, showing how he assumed a heavy responsibility in an effort to prevent Iran’s collapse during that crisis.

In this work, Jahangir Shahlaei re-creates history not as a dry chronicle, but as an inward, narrative-driven experience—one in which Foroughi stands at the intersection of myth, politics, and ethics, shaping a truly pivotal moment. Drawing on mythological motifs (such as the voluntary withdrawal of King Kay Khosrow), the novel reflects on power, responsibility, and the renunciation of authority for a higher purpose.
