Shāhnāmeh Persiska (Farsi) 2009

Abu’l-Qasem Ferdowsi Tusi (born 329 AH / 940 CE – died 416 AH / 1025 CE in Tus, Khorasan) was the great Iranian epic poet and the author of the Shahnameh, the national epic of Iran. Many consider him the greatest Persian poet, and his stature in world literature is likewise exceptional. Ferdowsi is often called Hakim-e Sokhan (“the Sage of Speech”) and Hakim-e Tus. Scholars believe that he began composing the Shahnameh, based on the earlier Shahnameh-ye Abu Mansuri, around the age of thirty. The only work definitively attributed to him is the Shahnameh itself—a monumental epic that immortalized his name and stands among the greatest works in the history of world literature.

This 10-volume pocket edition of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, published by Nava-ye Maktoub, is produced with a slipcase and is based on the critical “Moscow edition” of the text.
